Adidas Originals x Pharrell Williams inspired by Holi

Since the first collaboration launched back in 2014, Pharrell x adidas Originals drops have become a big moment for many sneakerheads, with collections selling out within a matter of days – and don’t even get us started on those resell prices.

With that said, the news that three new collections – all inspired by Holi, India’s ‘festival of colours’ – are set for release this spring is sure to delight footwear fans everywhere. “Everything I do is inspired by colour,” Pharrell told us. “It was the perfect expression to bring the soul of the collection to life.”

The good news is that the first drop, ‘Blank Canvas’, is already available – with the classic Stan Smith, Tennis and NMD styles reimagined in block white to signify peace and unity. In even better news, there are two additional collections – ‘Powder Dye’ and ‘Adicolour’ – that will be released on March 16. Using a unique dying process, each of the shoes – that come in a variety of colourways – are one-of-a-kind. “For me, colour is a connecting and equalising force in humanity and life,” Pharrell explained. “Colours can evoke emotion in us and that’s a really powerful force.”

Ahead of the collection release, the dreamy campaign video is also released today. Shot in India, it prominently features the locals who create the colourful powders that are at the heart of the festival as well as model Urvashi Umrao. Perfect for providing an insight into what Holi culture – the “springtime celebration of joy, equality, humanity and colour,” according to Pharrell – is all about.
